Chopper’s Sports Grill was named after Robert “ Chopper “ Traviglini (1932-1999) who was the former trainer of the Denver Nuggets. His character and style, as well as his big heart, made him legendary in Denver, and across the country.
(See “Robert Chopper Travaglini” for more on this special guy.)
In October of 1996 Chopper and his partners opened Chopper’s Sports Grill in the Cherry Creek area of Denver CO. They renovated the old Rick’s Café building at 80 South Madison Street and envisioned a casual neighborhood watering hole where you could get a fine meal and enjoy a drink with friends. It has evolved into “The Place” to watch a local sporting event with that “at the game” feel complete with all the bells, lights, and whistles. The place comes alive with energy and excitement when the home teams score. The Denver Post, The Rocky Mountain News, ESPN, Citysearch.com, Westword, 5280 Magazine and Insite Magazine have all recognized Chopper’s as “Best Sports Bar” and “Best Patio”.
The restaurant has become famous for its Homemade Pizzas, Mile High Nachos, Burgers that are made fresh daily, and Spicy Buffalo Wings. Chopper’s has a wide variety of house-made, high quality items not typically seen on sports bar menus. The kitchen staff is specially trained to handle all your party needs for up to 300 people. Contact the manager to see Chopper’s party menus or to inquire about booking our private room.
The Beer list includes 19 draft beers, including local and national microbrews and all your favorites. Chopper’s also offers 40 bottled beers to insure you’ll be enjoying your favorite ice-cold brew. The bar is fully stocked with “top shelf” spirits, 10 wines by the glass and “the best” margaritas.
For your viewing pleasure Chopper’s has over 50 “High Def” televisions. (Including 15-73'' Big screens, and the rest 35-52'' inch Sonys and Mitsubishis, even TVs in the rest rooms and on the patios) Chopper’s also has multiple satellites and receivers and subscribes to all the top sports packages and services to insure “if it’s televised we’ll show it” However, it’s always best to call ahead to make sure it’s on. Chopper’s also has some great, as well as unusual sports memorabilia, to rival any you’ve seen in a sports bar anywhere!
